No One’s Above the Law

Filed under: CCTV — admin @ 12:18 pm

It’s all too easy to place our top professional footballers on pedestals and treat them like ‘Gods’, after all, they have lots of money, trophy wife’s and what’s more we watch them play every week for our favourite football team. However, as a court case this week proved no matter who you are – you’re not above the law. Former Manchester City striker, Kelvin Etuhu (22), was caught on a CCTV camera punching an individual, breaking his jaw in the process, before violently kicking him three times as his victim lay on the ground and was this week sentenced to eight months behind bars for causing actual bodily harm and affray.

Over the last few years, there has been a lot of controversy about the number of Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) that have sprung up across Britain watching everything you do from doing the weekly shop to enjoying a night out with mates. Here at Crime Prevention Products we believe that everyone should be safe no matter where they go, however one place that everyone wants to feel safe is in the sanctuary of their own home or even their office as they work.

Which is why we hold and supply a wide range of home or office CCTV systems which will enable not home and business owners to see who has or attempted to enter their premises without the proper authority.

Keeping ‘Top-Cat’ and Friends at Bay

Garden Wall SpikesOver the next few months we all expect the temperature to reach double figures and give us all something to smile about (after the record breaking lows of this winter, I think any rise in the temperature would be a welcome relief). Isn’t the warm weather great, as soon as it heats up we’re organising barbecues, garden parties and late night drinks on the decking with family and friends – here in Britain we love to make the most of the warm weather.

When it comes to the summertime, some parents love nothing better than to show off their football or cricket skills in the garden with the kids. However, all this laughter can suddenly turn to dismay if someone accidentally stands or slips in some cat faeces. Not only can this be very upsetting for any child or grown-up, it can also be very dangerous as cat droppings can carry the bacteria Toxoplasmosis.

Toxoplasmosis is a disease caused by a microscopic parasite called Toxoplasma Gondii, which is present in virtually all warm-blooded animals. However, when a cat is exposed to Toxoplasma parasites through the consumption of infected meat or tissues, the cat will eventually excrete millions of eggs in its faeces. When your child accidentally touches this muck – the eggs can then contaminate your child, who might then touch their eyes or mouth leaving them open to serious infection.

Here at Crime Prevention Products we believe that everyone has the right to be safe and enjoy themselves in their own gardens, which is why we supply Garden Wall Spikes. These robust plastic spikes are the perfect deterrent for not only keeping opportunistic thieves away but also your not so friendly neighbourhood cat.

Home Security For Everyone

Opportunistic BurglarWhether it’s walking to the shops, getting fit in the local park or waiting to use the cash machine at the local convenience store, we want to feel safe while carrying out these actions. In saying that, recently we’ve heard various stories about people being robbed at gun point, women being assaulted as they try to get fit and even opportunistic theft, as masked people ‘snatch and grab’ handbags, laptops and wallets as people go about doing their daily business. Theft of any type can/and will leave most people traumatised often taking them months even years to overcome.

However, there is one crime that most people fear the most, the thought that someone has entered their personal space, looking through their personal possessions for items that can be easily sold on. One shocking statistic is that, every 37 seconds in Britain one house is burgled, that equates to over a million burglaries and attempted burglaries every year. Many people in Britain still have that “it will never happen to me” mentality when it comes to their homes as they “live in a good neighbourhood”, well thieves love home-owners like that, as they can often be seen as easy prey.

The other excuse that people use for not protecting their homes is that “modern house alarms can work out to be very expensive“, this can be true if you decide to go for the top of the range models with plenty of ‘extras’.

We at Crime Prevention Products believe that every home in Britain should have some kind of home security which will stop thieves simply walking in and out as they please. That’s why we stock an affordable range of home security products which will give you that extra peace of mind while your in or even out of your family home.

London Olympics Ticket Fraud Alert

Filed under: Crime News — admin @ 9:30 am

London Olympics 2012 Ticket FraudAccording to a recent report (source) nearly 13 million people in Britain were targeted by credit card fraudsters in 2010, this could have happened as they bought goods on unsecured websites or had their cards cloned by criminal gangs operating in shops and market places or even had their details stolen from discarded bank and credit card statements. Whichever way the criminals managed to obtain the details, many of the ‘victims’ didn’t know their card was used until they received a statement or went to use their card only to find that their ‘limit’ had been reached.

With one of the worlds biggest sporting events due to take place in our country in 2012 the police are worried that criminal organisations will see this as a phenomenally good opportunity to take advantage of people’s inexperience when it come to purchasing tickets over the internet. The Metropolitan Police are so concerned about this that they are setting up their own units to help tackle cyber crime at the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Operation Podium will be split into two separate units, one of the teams will be dealing with combating Olympics related e-crime activity, such as fraud and hacking, while the other unit will be dedicated almost exclusively to the prevention of ticketing fraud.

Here at Crime Prevention Products we are only to aware that criminals will see this as a massive opportunity to make free money. Which is why we decided to blog about a few tips to help you secure your tickets and prevent your money from simply disappearing out of your account.

  • is the official site of the 2012 Olympics and one of the more reliable online sites where you’ll be able to purchase tickets. It is the ONLY site to buy official hospitality and travel packages.
  • Don’t give anyone your credit card details in order to obtain cheap tickets – this may cost you more than you expected.
  • As the Olympics draw closer, there may be counterfeit tickets being passed around the local clubs and pubs, if a deal seems to good to be true – it probably is.

These are just a few crime prevention measures that will help you purchase your London Olympic tickets and be reassured that you’ll receive your genuine tickets plus not a penny more than which you paid will leave your account.
