The Perfect Handbag Accessory

Filed under: Personal Safety — admin @ 2:26 pm

In just a couple of months time many directors, managers and employees will be heading out to either their local bar, restaurant or club in order to celebrate their companies annual Christmas party. This is one of the few occasions where managers and employees can forget all about the pressures of everyday work thus allowing them to let their hair down and relax. This is also a time when many employees see this as the perfect opportunity to treat themselves and spend their hard earned cash on a new xmas outfit.

Alongside those new togs there is one accessory that always turns heads and that’s a new designer handbag (which may have cost a small fortune). Although it’s not just those with a keen fashion sense who will have noticed your new bag – opportunistic thieves may also show their appreciation and will be keen to see it close-up as well as the contents of you’re handbag.

No one likes to place their new (or old) handbag on a wet, dirty floor where it may be accidentally kicked under a table and even out of sight. That’s why we at Crime Prevention Products can supply you with the perfect handbag accessory the Handbag Keep-Safe Hook With Compact Mirror… This simple device will keep any handbag well out the way of dirty floors and more importantly in easy sight of its owner.

With the average contents of a handbag totalling around £350 – never mind the purchase price of the bag itself – it’s worth making sure you keep your handbag safe whilst looking good at the same time.

Make Stalkers See Red With The Mace UV Defence Spray

Filed under: Personal Safety — admin @ 12:40 pm

In recent months there have been numerous stories in our media regarding the rising trend in people being stalked. Ranging from famous footballers to gay communities it has to one of the most frightening experiences for a person to endure that someone is stalking you! Stalking just doesn’t happen in the real world either as Cyber Stalking is a growing concern and brings its own challenges for the authorities to stamp-out.

Facts Regarding Stalking in the UK:

  • Over 1.2 million women and 900,000 men are stalked every year according to The British Crime Survey 2004.
  • 8% of women and 6% of men are stalked every year.
  • 19% of women and 12% of men have experienced stalking or harassment at some point in their lives.

(source)

In a recent study carried out by Napo (the probation officers union) found that victims of stalking were being failed by our legal system. The study which is the first of it’s kind shows that sentences handed down to stalkers have been far to lenient. In fact last year in Britain there were 120,000 cases of stalking in which 53,000 were reported as a crime, however only 2% of the offenders were given a custodial sentence and a further 10% had to do community service or handed a fine. Crime Prevention Products understand that everyone deserves the right to their freedom whether it’s walking to the shops or enjoying yourself on a night out. That’s why we supply a host of personal security devices such as Defence Sprays which can cover your attacker in a bright red UV dye not only giving you time to react and escape but also help the authorities identify the culprit even days later as the dye is very, very stubborn to remove.

Outdoor Exercise – The Risk of Crime

Filed under: Personal Safety — admin @ 10:55 am

Over the last few months the people in Britain have been subjected to some of the worst weather imaginable. Temperatures hit record lows, snow lay several feet deep and the wheels of industry ground to a halt. It was a long bleak winter for most.

With the weather being so bad, most of us who had made a New Year resolution to lose weight found that our meaningful decision had to wait a little while we waited for the snow and ice to melt.

However, as the weather begins to warm up (eventually) and the light nights and mornings start to creep back in to our lives, it’s time to start thinking about that fitness regime again.

Keeping fit can mean many thing to different people. You may be the indoorsy type who burns the calories using Wii Fit or some other console program. Perhaps you like to dance your dinner off and head off to Zumba classes every other night. But for the majority of us – doing extra exercise means taking walks across the countryside, or even jogging/running through the local park. However no matter how light the mornings, or nights, become there is always an element of risk and becoming a victim of crime when participating in outdoor exercise.

Here at Crime Prevention Products we understand that in the upcoming months, a greater number of us than usual may be out training for their 5k or 10k run/walk for the ‘Race for Life‘ organised charity events. Like all training regimes, you have to be properly prepared and this does not mean just having the proper shorts, vest and the occasional Hi-Energy drink about your body.

People must consider their own safety and assess the risks when doing outdoor training. Crime Prevention Products have a vast number of handheld personal alarm systems specially designed for those who prefer doing their exercise in the outdoors.

Winter Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Dangers

Filed under: Fire Safety,Personal Safety — admin @ 10:47 am

Just about this time of year we experince the the sudden drop in temperature as the cold damp air starts to creep into our homes. Now is the perfect time to be turning up the thermostat on the gas central heating system or even turn on the gas fire in the living room – just to take the chill out of the air.

One of the major problems with fuel burning appliances is that – if they are not running efficiently they will cause Carbon Monoxide, which will kill you. Carbon Monoxide is tasteless, odourless and colourless making it difficult to detect if it is leaking from a gas appliance. One of the best ways of alerting you that Carbon Monoxide is present in your room is to have a alarm that detects this killer.

One of the best Carbon Monoxide Alarms available is the Battery Powered Electronic Carbon Monoxide Alarm which is also guaranteed for 5 years. Around 30 and 50 people die each year from carbon monoxide poisoning. Even a small dose of carbon monoxide poisoning can be very harmful to an individual – signs of carbon monoxide poisoning are headaches, vertigo, and flu-like effects. Again it is very difficult to tell the difference between carbon monoxide poisoning and contracting the flu around this time of year. Carbon monoxide poisoning is the most common type of fatal poisoning in the UK. By installing a Carbon Monoxide Alarm you can help detect this silent killer early enough.

You Don’t Need To Be A Celebrity To Have Personal Protection

Filed under: Personal Safety — admin @ 12:30 pm

When it comes to personal protection we have to take responsibility for our own, well unless you’re royalty, or a well known pop idol or a football hero or some other A-listed celebrity but for most of us it’s down to our own devices to find the best products to help protect us in times of need.

In today’s society there are those that are only too happy to take advantage of others lack of protection/security, this can lead to the theft of money, goods or even attacks on a personal level.

Personal Protection comes in a number of ways from Gas Operated Personal Attack Alarms to simple door chains on a vulnerable exit. Each are designed to help protect and discourage someone from intruding into your own personal space. With the dark winter nights only a few months away now is the perfect time to start thinking about how and why you should protect yourself.

Stepping Out The Way Of Harm

Filed under: Personal Safety — admin @ 10:30 am

Each morning I read the newspapers, and it genuinely feels that everytime we step outside our homes we are putting ourselves into extreme danger. According to the number of random attacks on a person in the press. I read of people going about their daily business, walking to the shops, going on a bus or just taking a casual stroll in the local park, then getting attacked, robbed or even worse.

Working Alone and Staying Safe

Filed under: Personal Safety — admin @ 2:21 pm

Many people would have you believe that it’s illegal to work on your own, however the law clearly states, “there are no absolute restrictions on working alone”. The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 states that proper care must be carried out to ensure the safety of employees, and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulation 1999 stresses that proper risk assessments must be carried out to protect the employees and people entering the work premises.

Knife Handheld Scanner

Filed under: Personal Safety — admin @ 10:10 am

It is shocking to think these type of headlines are becoming the norm… “Man Stabbed” or “Child Critical After Knife Attack” or “Woman Attacked with Knife in Local Park” they are indeed a sad part of everyday life in today’s modern Britain. Knife crime has become one of the biggest killers in Britain in recent years, although some organisations try to mask the actual figures, one fact still remains, people are getting hurt by mindless thugs using knives to attack people.
