Why Driveway Alarms Work!

Filed under: Garden Security,Home Security — admin @ 12:58 pm

Installing a home security alarm is an extremely worthwhile task, the benefits far outweigh the systems cost and installation time as you know that the alarm will alert neighbours, passer-bys and even the authorities that someone is attempting to gain entry into you property. However, would it not be better to actually stop thieves from entering your property before they get anywhere near your house? This is when you need additional security and this is why Driveway Alarms work!

Sensors on Driveway alarms are designed to alert that someone is approaching the building before they actually reach the front or back door. Some of our Driveway Alarms work up to a distance of a mile, making them perfect security additions for large estates, storage buildings and farms.

Here at Crime Prevention Products we offer a range of Driveway Alarms that are extremely easy to install and come at an affordable price…

Protect Your Garden Shed During The Winter Months

Filed under: Garden Security — admin @ 2:49 pm

With the weathermen predicting more snow and another cold spell ahead of us, many residents will be finding themselves heading home after their daily shift, close their front door behind them and not open it again until the next morning. This is typical winter behaviour, who doesn’t prefer to stay snug and secure inside as outside temperatures plummet. But this domesticated from of human hibernation during the cold months is also good news for the active thiefs ‘who live amongst us‘ as they can sneak around their gardens without any or little disturbance.

As we know, opportunist thieves will take full advantage of any situation, where they can make some free and easy money and unprotected garages and garden sheds are prime pickings. Think about it… What have you got stored in your garden shed… Bicycles? DIY or garden tools and equipment? Perhaps even expensive fishing equipment or golfing gear? All under one roof and probably poorly protected. Goods worth hundreds or thousands of pounds just waiting to be stolen without too much effort. You can now begin to understand why burglars target garden sheds, allotments and garages, up and down the country, at this time of the year.

Here at Crime Prevention Products we urge that people boost their security with extra locks and garage & shed alarms to make sure their property is safe and secure from winter time sneak thiefs.

Be Prepared When Driving in the Winter

Filed under: Travel Security — admin @ 4:54 pm

This week most of our country awoke to find a white blanket of snow covering their streets. Great news for anyone under the age of sixteen. Building snowmen, sledging and the occasional snowball fight were soon on the agenda. However, it wasn’t much fun if you were a driver and had to venture out onto the roads. Then, as the snow turned to ice, much of the North of England was brought to a near standstill on Monday as vehichles of all types got stranded on the A1(M) after a serious of accidents (source).

When it comes to driving in extreme weather, how many divers can say they are properly prepared? What would happen if you had to spend some time in your car, would you have the proper equipment to help you through a cold couple of hours? With the weather expected to stay below freezing for the next week or so, we at Crime Prevention Products would urge our readers to be prepared if they have to venture out onto the roads.

If you have to venture out, we would recommend that each car carries extra food including snacks and chocolate (which will keep your body active) as well as blankets, hats, scarves, gloves and a change of clothes (if possible). Not forgetting suitable footwear which will keep you warm if you are stranded for any length of time.

We would also recommend that you carry a personal alarm this will alert any passers by that you are in need of assistance and an Emergency Life Hammer which will help you escape you vehicle if the unfortunate should happen.

If you are not confident about driving and your journey is not essential then don’t make it!

Watch Out For The Cold Weather Carjackers

Filed under: Vehicle Security — admin @ 12:26 pm

This weekend the weather in Britain is expected to reach a chilly -9 in places, which can only mean one thing to most drivers – de-frosting their vehicles before they head off. We’ve already highlighted to our readers many opportunistic thieves are now making the most of the cold weather and simply driving away with residents cars, as they might head indoors to enjoy the warmth whilst waiting on their vehicle to de-frost.

According to one source over 50 vehicles are stolen every day using the owner’s keys. The worry is, as the weather temperature falls below zero, residents will leave their keys unattended in the ignition as the car heats-up, and the aforementioned figure is set to rise sharply.

It’s worth remembering, that if your car ‘simply disappears‘ whilst the keys are in the ignition, most insurance companies will NOT pay out as ‘you didn’t take adequate protection against theft‘.

If you have too defrost your windscreens then we recommend you use a de-icer or invest in a decent scraper (and some wooly gloves) which will quickly remove the ice from the vehicles windows. However, if you do have to leave your vehicle while it’s de-frosting, even if it’s for only a few seconds, then we at Crime Prevention Products recommend that you use proper vehicle security devices which will prevent any opportunistic thief simply driving off with your vehicle as the temperatures plummet.

Early Warning Farm Security Systems

Filed under: Farm Security — admin @ 4:10 pm

Burglary is on the increase in farms, rural homes and businesses. It only takes a matter of seconds for an opportunistic thief to break-in to a farm building and be off with expensive farm tools and equipment. Beacuse of the remoteness of the property it’s difficult to know when someone is snooping around! Plus relying on the Police to catch the culprits in the act is a very long shot indeed.

Which is why, if you own remote property, it makes sense to install an early detection device such as a Driveway Alarm. These are the perfect addition to any farm or outbuilding security system which may already be fitted. Driveway alarms can be highly effective, detection up to one mile away with some systems, which makes them ideal early warning systems for farms, large estates and outbuildings.

We have a selection of Driveway Alarms that will fit perfectly alongside any farm, outbuilding, home or estate’s security system and be an ideal deterrent to any thief and help keep your property safe.

Beat Burglars On A Budget

Filed under: Dummy Cameras — admin @ 11:54 am

With the very real increased ‘risk’ that burglaries will rise during 2012, many home, shop and business owners may be wishing to beef up their security. However, there is still the myth that installing additional security features to a premises could end up costing a small fortune. This is simply not the case, as there are cost-effective, alternative solutions, available to purchase that can help you to beat burglars on a budget.

When it comes to protecting your possessions, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Cameras have to be one of the best deterrents in home and office securityas no thief would be willing to take the risk of being caught on camera. The downside to this, is that some owners may think that installing these high definition cameras and recording equipment may be out of their price range, but you can keep costs down, and still give the illusion that you employ the use of recording equipment on your premises by using Dummy CCTV Cameras.

Here at Crime Prevention Products we have a carefully selected range of perfect dummy cameras that will help protect your home, office or shop from any opportunistic thief. As many of our dummy cameras are manufactured from real camera housing’s, this makes it near impossible to tell the difference from which are real and which are fake – so for a fraction of the price you CAN beat the burglars on a budget.

Watch Out For Fake Banknotes

Filed under: Counterfeit Detection — admin @ 11:56 am

Most local and high street shops have been selling goods at bargain prices to help save their financial future in the run-up to xmas. With money being tight and the cost of fuel, utilities, rates and rent rising, most shops will be just be managing to keep their heads above water. Every penny counts, and as they head to the bank with their daily takings – the last thing they’ll need to hear is that they’ve sold goods on and received fake banknotes in exchange.

Here at Crime Prevention Products we’ve written several articles explaining the dangers of receiving counterfeit money and the fact that once you receive this fake money you are legally bound to hand it into the bank. Even worse news for the shop owners, is that once the ‘fake banknotes’ is handed back, there is no compensation and little chance of receiving the goods back to resell.

Crime Prevention Products wish everyone to have a very prosperous New Year and to help ensure that every penny taken over the counter is legitimate we stock a vast array of Counterfeit Detection products.
