Staying Safe while Jogging

Filed under: Personal Safety — admin @ 10:33 am

If you are a woman living in the Helensburgh and Lomond area of Scotland there is some good news for you today, the Crime Prevention Panel are giving away 250 personal alarms. Although this area is considered very safe, its always nice to have that extra reassurance. With the warmer weather and light nights now here, more and more females are taking to ‘power walking’ and jogging.

Although these might give some extra confidence to vunerable women you should always use common sense when out alone, these personal alarms emit a loud screeching noise when the pin is removed but if you are in the middle of the woods, or the heart of the countryside, who will hear it? Best advice is to stay to areas where there are likely to be a lot of people.

There are several points to remember when out walking, jogging or even cycling, try to vary your route, walk with friends, and never wear headphones or if you do keep the music down to a minimum as you will not hear someone come up behind you. If you think that someone if following you try to get to a busy area and call the Police.
