Counterfeit Detection Still An Issue

Like most businesses there nothing better than the sound of money going into your till, standing all day at your work premises, then at night going to put your hard earned cash into the bank only to be told that some of your money is illegal. Infuriating, don’t you think? Counterfeit money is big business and it is not confined to just UK shores this is a World wide problem.

counterfeit-moneyA few years back, making counterfeit money was a very difficult process as each colour had to have its own separate plate, these plates had to made meticulously using photographs. Nowadays with modern technologies this process is much easier. Counterfeit money is only designed to fool the average man and woman on the street, this is due to the security measures on legitimate bank notes. Once the money has been passed from the counterfeiter as legal tender – their job is done.

When the bank of post office discover the counterfeit money, that you are genuinely trying to cash in – they will inform you and explain that your money is worthless.

So, in essence, you have been working for nothing. Or given away goods for no return. Counterfeit gangs tend to use shops and small businesses that don’t use any counterfeit detectors – these are relatively cheap machines that test the paper. The UV lamp or pen will test the material that your money is printed on. Bank notes are printed on cotton paper which will give off an dull reflection. Protect your money and your livelihood – don’t give counterfeiters a chance.
